ITINERARY

Day 1: Addis Ababa – Arba Minch

Upon arrival; be met and assisted by our representatives for the transfer to the hotel. Arbaminch literally means "forty springs", the name it got from its famous forty local springs, and is located 515 Km from Addis Ababa, the capital city.

Day 2: Jinka

After breakfast, we will drive about 275 Km asphalted road to Jinka. En route we will stop in Konso to pay a visit to the third generation Konso king and the Konso village, also known as Kantas. Konso is best known for its natural landscapes, terraces and wooden statues, also known as Waka. After lunch at Kanta lodge, we will continue driving to Jinka past the famous natural mud towers named by locals "Konso New York" because they resemble sky-scrapers. Overnight stay in Jinka Resort or similar.

Day 3: Jinka - Mursi - Jinka

In the morning we will drive to visit the Mursi tribes past Mago National Park (30 Km from Jinka). While you are driving through the park, you may get a chance to see many Guenter's dik-dik and a few olive Baboons, Guereza (black and white Columbus monkeys), an occasional greater or lesser kudu and Defassa waterbuck. We shall proceeding to Mursi village, the most popular people in Omo valley; you will like and appreciate the culture and custom of Mursi people. The Mursi women are best known for their giant lip plate which signals that they have reached maturity and are ready to get married. You will also learn more about the Mursi men who are famous for their stick fighting ceremony known as Donga.After the visit we will drive back to Jinka. Overnight stay in Jinka Resort or similar

Day 4: Jinka - Turmi

After breakfast we will drive to Turmi (117 kms from Jinka) via Key Afer and Dimeka. If the day is Market day (Thursday in Key-Afer or Saturday in Dimeka) we will see the colorful markets where different tribes such as the Tsemai, Benna, Hammer, Karo and Ari come together. The Hamer tribes are famous for their body decoration and women's unique hair style. We may also be able to see "Bull jumping", a traditional Hamer coming -of-age ceremony, if there is one. In the evening we can see the traditional night dancing, known as Evangadi

Day 5: Turmi - Omorate - Turmi

This morning we will drive to Omorate where Dassenech (Galeb) tribes live. They are inhabitant of both side of lower course of Omo River. We will cross the river by small boat and visit their village. The Dassenech are also known for their body decoration and scaring. Drive back to Turmi, en route visit one of the Hamer tribes.

Day 6: Arba Minch

This morning we will drive to Omorate where Dassenech (Galeb) tribes live. They are inhabitant of both side of lower course of Omo River. We will cross the river by small boat and visit their village. The Dassenech are also known for their body decoration and scaring. Drive back to Turmi, en route visit one of the Hamer tribes.

Day 7: Hawassa

After early breakfast in Arbaminch, we will drive to Hawassa (276 Km asphalt road). Hawassa is a city on the shore of Lake Hawassa in the Great Rift Valley 275 km from Addis Ababa. The city is known for the tourist attractions like Lake Hawassa, 'Amora Gedel', Tabor Hill and magnificent international standard luxury Resorts and accommodations. In the afternoon you will be at leisure to enjoy the city

Day 8: Addis Ababa

In the morning, en route to Addis Ababa, the capital city of Ethiopia 275 Kms from Hawassa, we will drive past the Great Rift Valley Lakes of Langano, Abyata, Shalla and Lake Zway to Debre-Zeit where we will have lunch at the beautiful Kuriftu Resort and Spa. Late afternoon you will arrive in Addis Ababa (45 km driving).

Day 9: Axum

Upon arrival at Axum transfer to the hotel for check-in. Today you will start your visit from the famous Axum Stellae, and then within walking distance you will find the church of saint Marry of Zion which is claimed to hold the original Ark of the Covenant. The church also contains the crowns of several Ethiopian Kings and other treasures. After lunch, you will proceed to visit King Kaleb's palace and tomb of King Remehai en route you will visit queen Sheba's bath as well as the ruins of her palace.

Day 10: Lalibela

Transfer to Axum Airport for departure to Lalibela.Up on arrival at Lalibela airport, transfer to Hotel for check-in. Still remarkable and considered world heritage (8th wonder of the world) by UNESCO, Lalibela was once a thriving capital of a medieval dynasty. After Lunch you will start to visit the astonishing eleven Rock-hewn churches which were built during the reign of King Lalibela in the 12th century. The prominent eleven rock-hewn churches of Lalibela are separated into two groups by the seasonal river "Jordan". The first group of churches, that are north of the river "Jordan", include Bete Medhane-Alem, Bete Maryam, Bete Meskel, Bete Denagel, Bete Golgotha and Bete Debre Sina (also known as Bete Mika'el), and one that is isolated from the others the remarkable church of Bete Giorgis, possibly the most elegant and amazing of all.

Day 11: Lalibela

Today we will continue your visit to the second group of rock-hewn churches which are located south of the river "Jordan" that comprises four churches and sanctuaries of Bet Emanuel, Bet Merkorios, Bet Abba Libanos, the Chapel of Bethelehem and Bet Gabriel-Rufa'el. In the afternoon, we will be going for excursion on the back of a mule to visit the outlying church of Asheten Mariam. This church is very famous for its 12-century monastery construction and beautiful view at 10,298 ft above sea level, taking in wonderful views of the surrounding countryside from its mountain-top location.

Day 12: Gondar - SMNP

Be met and assisted by our representatives for lunch in Gondar and continue our journey by driving to Simien Mountain. We will drive through marvelous landscape to reach Simien Mountain. On the way we will have a quick visit to the village of Welleka, which is inhabited by Falasha or Judaic Ethiopian who call themselves Bete Israel. 101 km north of Gonder is Debark, the base to explore Simien Mountains. After a few kms drive we will check into the Simien Lodge.

Day 13: Gondar

After breakfast and check-out, will drive to Sanka-Ber to see the amazing scene and the Gelada Baboon, which is endemic to Ethiopia. We may also be able to see the Walia Ibex which is also endemic only in Ethiopia. The Gelada Baboon is also known as "bleeding heart baboon" due to the red area on its chest. We will drive back to Gondar in the afternoon.

Day 14: Bahir Dar

After breakfast and check-out, we will visit Gondar. Gondar, Known as the "Camelot" of Africa and located approximately 466 Miles or 745 Km North West of Addis Ababa, is where we will visit the impressive castles of Gondar. Gondar became the capital city of Ethiopia during the reign of Emperor Fasilidas (1632 to 1667) who built the first castle. His successors each then built a palace during their period of reign. A total of eleven palaces are located in one compound – very convenient for visitors to tour all at once. At the outskirts of the city the bathing palace of Emperor Fasilidas is another impressive sight for visitors. We will then pay a visit to Debre Berhan Selassie (Light of Trinity) church that is famous for its ceiling murals of winged angels and other relics – an unforgettable experience not to be missed. After lunch, we we will drive 185 KM to Bahir Dar.

Day 15: Bahir Dar

After breakfast we will take a boat trip on Lake Tana to visit the famous ancient island monastery of Ura-Kidane-Meheret which is rich in icon painting. Continuing to the southern end of the heart shaped lake, we will visit the island of Kebran Gebriel monstery, which was built in the 14th century A.D and reconstructed in late 17th century A.D. We will return to the hotel for lunch. After lunch, we will drive 37 KM to the Blue Nile falls, commonly known as "Tis-isat," means the water that smokes. Late afternoon, en route from our return from Blue Nile falls, we will take a city tour and visit Mount Bezawit where the palace of the Emperor Haile selassie is gracefully situated. This hilltop is famous for catching spectacular sunset, the best view of the town and the lake.

Day 16: Departure

Transfer to Bahir Dar Airport for departure to Addis.Up on arrival at Bole Airport transfer to a hotel for day use in Addis. Afternoon will be leisure/shopping; Dinner will be at Ethiopia traditional restaurant.Evening transfer to the airport for departure.
